Hello, the lady above is our mother Johnnie Mae Griffin. A few years ago she was diagnosed with cancer. She had surgery and during that procedure she had part of her lower jaw and tongue removed. We were told that all of the cancer had been removed but unfortunately, 12 years later she is going through the same torture as before again. Her surgery is being handled by the amazing staff at Baylor All Saints Hospital in Ft. Worth, Texas. We are creating this GoFundMe page because in addition to the surgery to remove the cancer, and now the upper portion of her jaw.  This treatment is recommended to prevent the cancer from moving upward into her optic nerves and brain resulting in blindness and unbearable pain.  She will also need surgery to reconstruct her jaw in order for her to talk again and remove the breathing tube from her throat.  We do have insurance but the reconstruction surgery is considered COSMETIC and is NOT covered under our insurance.  However, her surgeon has stressed to the family that this surgery is a must for her to have any type of quality of life.  This surgery is needed within in the next week for the highest chance of healing and successful  integration into her existing bone structure. So, we are asking, if you can and we know times are hard for us all but if you have the ability to help, it will be greatly appreciated.  Words of encouragement, prayers, and well wishes will be shared with our mother as well. We were told that the surgery would cost between $16,000 - $26,000.
