Mr. Alvin is a 64-year-old man who has faced more than his share of hardship. After two car accidents happened back to back, he found himself with nowhere to turn. He came to North Carolina to see his mother one last time before she passed away, and since then, life has only gotten harder. Now, Mr. Alvin lives in his car with his dog, who is not just his companion but his only family and friend. Despite everything, he continues to care for his dog and tries to stay hopeful for better days ahead.

Winter has made things even more difficult for Mr. Alvin and his dog. With freezing temperatures and nowhere safe to stay, every night is a struggle. He is working on signing up for SSI, but the process takes time, and he needs a warm place to stay while he gets back on his feet. A hotel room would give Mr. Alvin and his dog the safety and comfort they desperately need during this tough season.
