Help Move LIRR Caboose #29

$6,000 goal

Campaign created 3 months ago
Long Island Railroad caboose #29 is on borrowed time! Following its generous donation by the Seashore Trolley Museum, we now have a May 1, 2019 deadline to move it off their property.

Initially, the car will be moved to the Danbury Rail Museum for safekeeping and restoration. Following that, a secure and permanent home will be found where the car can be enjoyed by all.

Transportation quotes have been obtained and this fundraiser will cover the moving and permit costs required to get the car down east safely. Any additional or excess monies raised will be put towards a fund for the restoration of the car.

It is with a heavy heart I must report that LIRR caboose #29 will NOT be returning home. Unable to secure funding, I have given the museum my permission to sell the caboose to another party located in Maine.

I appreciate everyone's interest and help, and want you all to know the car will not be scrapped.

Best regards,

Chris Cardinal

She has languished in Maine for long enough! While in somewhat rough condition, there is certainly plenty left of the original car to restore back to its former glory.
