Help a Mother Bring Her Daughter Home

Help Me Save My Daughter

Hello, my name is Chitra (original name is hidden due to privacy), and I am a 60-year-old mother in desperate need of support from my community. I am reaching out to you in a time of great financial distress, trying to help my only daughter, who is experiencing homelessness and battling severe mental health issues.

My daughter is an extraordinary individual—a brilliant scientist, a reputed University postgraduate, and a talented artist trained in Bharatnatyam, violin, and classical singing. She is a loving daughter with a bright future that has been overshadowed by unfortunate circumstances. She lost her job, and for the past four years, she has been living on the streets and in shelters, struggling to survive.

We have been supporting her financially from India to the best of our abilities, but our resources have been exhausted. My husband, her father, is now bedridden due to the stress and helplessness of our situation. Due to her mental health condition, she refuses to return to India, and we are heartbroken that we could not be with her during this difficult time.

Just when we thought all hope was lost, AmPowering, an incredible organization, came into our lives like a beacon of light. For the past three months, they have treated my daughter like a family member, providing her with shelter in a hotel, and supporting her daily needs. They even reached out to us in India and helped me to travel to Seattle, USA, helping us hand-in-hand cope with the mental health challenges together. They are also working with Government officials including Indian Consulate, Mayor, Police, King County crisis services and all required agencies to seek appropriate help.

AmPowering's dedication and relentless efforts have made a significant impact. After so long and failed attempts, they managed to get my daughter admitted to a hospital where she is finally receiving the treatment she desperately needs. Not only emotional and mental support, but they have also covered her with big financial support for accommodation, food, and various expenses, showing us a level of care and commitment from over 3 months that is truly remarkable.

While we are starting to see improvement, it is a long journey, and we need to wait another two-three months before she is stable enough to think good for her or consider returning to India as we do not want to leave her on the streets being homeless and in miserable street. She is a big scientist and it's so disheartening to see how her poor mental health has made her homeless. AmPowering continues to support us, but we urgently need additional financial assistance from our other community members in the USA to ensure we do not end up on the streets again.

We humbly ask for your help. Please consider donating to support my daughter’s ongoing treatment and our family's fight to bring her back to a safe and healthy state. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in our lives.

If you need any further information, please reach out to Menka Soni, President of AmPowering, at [email redacted] or message her at [phone redacted]. Due to medical privacy issues, we cannot share specific details of my daughter. I hope you can respect this privacy of her and trust a helpless mother seeking desperate help.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Chitra
