Help Mother and Two Daughters Beat Cancer

Donation protected
Dear family and friends,

As many of you know 2019 has been a difficult year for my family and I. Not only have we had one family member diagnosed with cancer this year… but THREE family members diagnosed with cancer! All within 6 months of each other! It has been an extremely challenging and emotional time that we hope will be over soon.

It started with our incredible Mum. After multiple tests and agonizing visits to numerous doctors, she was diagnosed with stage 3 Ovarian cancer. Mum is the most kind, devoted, caring and loving Mum – who raised 5 kids and dedicated her life to her family. After giving up her tuition business, powering through six rounds of chemo, losing her hair and enduring a major surgery she was told her cancer is still persistent!! But cancer doesn’t know our Mum! Mum is incredibly tough! For now she is on a new drug that is keeping the cancer at bay but she needs alternative (expensive) therapies to help to beat this cancer! Through this ordeal she has stayed strong and positive. We are so proud of her.

Three months post Mum’s diagnosis we are told that our 31 year old sister, Amye has been diagnosed with Breast cancer that has spread to lymph nodes. She was told 3 days before her son’s first birthday. Amye is the jolliest, bubbliest and biggest lover of life you could ever meet. Anyone that knows her knows how quickly Amye jumps to her feet to help someone in need. She is living on the sunshine coast with her husband, son and dog. Now their world has been completely turned upside down. She has had to put life on hold to have WEEKLY chemotherapy. She is currently half way through chemo and is staying positive and strong #supermum.

Four weeks after this we are hit with a third blow. Our eldest sister, Grace is diagnosed with stage 3 Breast cancer! Grace is 33 years old and also living on the Sunshine Coast with her husband. Grace is someone you always want to be around because she brings the warmest energy where ever she goes. Grace thinks of everyone before herself and is definitely the rock of the family.

Both Grace and Amye’s chemotherapy regime is weekly and intense with radiation to follow. They also face the prospect of having major surgeries post chemo.

Thank you to all of our family and friends for the huge amount of love and support my family have already received through-out this time. However I am writing this today to kindly ask for your support furthermore.

During this time my family have understandably been put under immense financial pressure. Chemo every week means work, savings and life plans have been completely put on hold. It is for this reason that I have created this GoFundMe page. All the contributions will go directly to Mum, Grace and Amye as they battle cancer. It will assist them with paying for expensive specialists, travel for treatment, medicine, alternative therapies etc. It will go a long way in taking immense weight off their shoulders and allow them to have more energy to focus solely on their health and family.

A Mother should never have to see their child go through cancer, let alone TWO children go through cancer all the while battling it herself. But they are – and they are doing it together!

Although the battle has only just begun we are all positive and optimistic. Your thoughts, prayers and contributions are so greatly appreciated. We will beat this!!

While we have readers I would like to use this space to also reiterate the importance of getting regular breast checks/ self-checks, regular cervical screening as well as listening to your body when something doesn’t feel right and seeking medical advice. Especially if you have cancer like breast, prostate and/ or ovarian in your family as you may have the BRCA gene. Grace was initially refused a mammogram as she wasn’t 50 years old! Thankfully she didn’t listen and insisted on one!
