<div><em>Late 2024 Morpheus was diagnosed with Kidney Disease and Hyperthyroidism.</em>

<div><strong>On December 12th 2025, Morpheus stopped eating.</strong>
</div>
<div><strong>On December 14th, he stopped drinking. </strong>He seemed confused, started hiding in cupboards, and acting oddly.

<div><strong>On December 15th, </strong>at the Vets office, a difficult discussion about how to proceed followed, whether to try to bring him back from the brink or proceed with euthanasia. <em>He'd lost a pound since his annual vet visit just 4 weeks earlier</em>.
</div>

</div>
<div>Our biggest concern being his comfort and quality of life. We wanted Morpheus to have the chance to recover, and he proceeded to receive subcutaneous fluids, anti nausea medication, and a hunger stimulant. We were shown how to inject his fluids, and his new medications.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The following days were challenging and full of tears. Monday and Tuesday passed; he'd ask for food, and go to the water bowl, but he wouldn't eat or drink. Each time he asked and wouldn't eat a new round of tears ensued. He slept all day by the heater, his body exhausted.
</div>

</div>
<div>On Tuesday night, I thought for sure he wasn't going to live to see morning. I stayed up all night with him, and held him as we stared into each others eyes. <em>Morning came, and by some miracle, he drank and ate.</em>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It was touch and go, but he continued to eat and drink. Within a week he gained back half a pound.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Now, January 14th, a month after this all began, Morpheus is doing very well. He's back to his energetic self, running around and playing with his 5 kitty companions, eating heartily, and enjoying life.</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>While his Kidney disease is incurable, we're thrilled his quality of life can be so good with the proper care.
</div>

</div>
<div><strong>Every day he needs:</strong>
</div>

<li>A morning and evening dose of his Hyperthyroidism medication
</li>
<li>A dose of anti nausea medication
</li>
<li>His dermal hunger stimulant
</li>
</ul>

<li>A subcutaneous fluids injection
</li>
</ul>
<div><strong>And ongoing:</strong>

<li>Vet visits and blood work
</li>

<div>He's also transitioned to eating wet food for ease on his kidneys, almost exclusively, bringing his food to $12/day.

<div>His care now is just under $1000/month to keep him feeling healthy, and ensuring a great quality of life for him.

<div>We want him to have the best end of life care, so he can enjoy all the time he has left with us.

<div>Morpheus is doing extremely well, he's regained a lot of energy, and it doing much better every day. He's ever regained some of his kitten-like play and he's very active. He's eating heartily and enjoying life. Thank you for helping us give him a wonderful time in his golden years!
