I am finally ready to come forward and ask the community for the support that I truly need. While many people think the agunah crisis and domestic abuse only affect women, I am part of the small percentage of men who have experienced both of these. I have offered a get countless times and my ex refuses to accept it from two separate Batei Din (religious courts)!
After moving out, with the help of the police, I was finally physically beyond her abusive reach. Like in most Get refusal situations, her refusal to accept the get is her final opportunity to exert control over me and she continues to wage an emotional war against me and my family, not allowing me to move on with my life and spreading false information about me.
Currently, there is an ongoing police investigation into her coercive control, including classic domestic abuse, as well as her refusal to accept the get. This process has not been easy and I have had to engage solicitors at a tremendous financial cost to me and my family. I had to give up a family home, for myself and my children, which means I am still living with family and my children are in different locations.
While I am hopeful that the truth will come out, this process is emotionally, spiritually and financially depleting. The stress and anxiety of my situation means I am unable to function at 100% and I am currently earning at 25% of my capacity.
Every dollar / shekel / pound counts and your help will be greatly appreciated. Surplus funds will help fund KAVOD, the only support service in the UK that supports Jewish male survivors of domestic abuse and coercive control.
