Help MoogaLoo regain her independence

Our friend @MoogaLoo22 needs our help.

As many of you know, she had a serious health crisis last year that involved cardiac arrest, open-heart surgery, and two unexpected hospitalizations (totaling 45 days in the hospital). As a result of this, she was forced to give up her car to make ends meet.

MoogaLoo is always active and is usually one of the first to lead the charge to help others and promote the type of compassion and generosity of spirit that makes the #UglyDogs community so special. What you may not know is that she’s disabled and living in a rural area where the closest town with a fully-stocked grocery store is 35 minutes away. She’s been surviving on a fixed SSI stipend of less than $1,000 that has to cover food, rent, healthcare, and vet care for her beloved dogs Simon and Monroe (whom many of you know and love from Twitter). She frequently has doctor appointments more than an hour away and has been relying on neighbors to get to those (as well as to just get her to the next town to go to the grocery store).

Recently, one of the neighbors she’s relied on is having her own healthcare emergencies and a looming UPS strike could cut her off from deliveries of many essentials.

Let’s help MoogaLoo become more self-sufficient by raising money she can put towards purchasing a reliable used vehicle. This will free her from relying on neighbors (who have busy lives themselves) and let her do the things many of us take for granted on a daily basis (like drive to the doctor or grocery store).

Here’s a chance to make an immediate and dramatic difference for one of our own and help MoogaLoo (not to mention Monroe & Simon) live a more independent life. Additionally, getting this vehicle will let MoogaLoo, Simon, and Monroe enjoy the occasional New England adventure… and I am sure she would be thrilled to share photos and details of those adventures with the #UglyDogs family.
