Help Monika to be herself again!

Donation protected
Our friend Monika used to be a vivacious and energetic 33 years old single mom until a tragedy struck… On March 17th of this year, while walking home, Monika stumbled and fell sustaining a very serious head injury. The life as she knew it was over. Her state was critical for the first few days of her hospital stay and although she pulled through, she spent the next few weeks in a coma in the intensive care unit. Monika’s 7 year old daughter Marta and her mom Gosia have been by her side throughout all of it. To them, Monika is their whole world... We, her family and friends, all hoped that after she came out of the coma everything would just go back to normal. Unfortunately, the process is slow and arduous.
Monika is facing an uphill battle to be able to lead a normal life again and to be able to hug her daughter again, but she is not giving up hope. We are not giving up hope!

Since coming out of the coma Monika keeps slipping in and out of consciousness, but her awareness is improving daily. She is not able to talk yet, but has established her own way of communicating with her family. She was taken off of the ventilator and is breathing mostly on her own however, she is not able to eat yet, and uses the feeding tube. Although at the moment she is fully dependent on the hospital staff, Monika works hard to make progress in her recovery every day.  This is a fight of her lifetime and she is determined to win it!

Due to being immobile for 5 months, she is experiencing muscle atrophy. Her family and friends are doing everything they can to help with her physical and cognitive therapy but to have a real chance at full recovery, Monika needs support of a professional rehabilitation team in a reputable rehabilitation centre dedicated to complicated cases like hers. She needs is NOW.

Monika is awaiting for available space in The National Rehabilitation Hospital, Dun Laoghaire but because this can take up to 12 months before she gets in we were searching for other options and we have found an absolutely fantastic place – Clarenbridge Nursing Home in co. Galway.

We are asking for help to gather the funds needed to provide long term rehab care for Monika, she also might require repatriation to Poland . The cost of the necessary stay, possible travel  and all equipment needed further is far beyond the financial capability of Monika’s mother, and their family but the stay in a good rehabilitation centre is absolutely crucial at this point of her healing process, and we are determined to help her get the care and support that will maximize her chances at full recovery!

We also need to raise funds for Cyber Eye – non-verbal communication device which Monika would need until she is able to speak again!

We are asking for donations for the rehabilitation funds for Monika. Please help with any donation you can. Every penny counts!

We are also asking for help spreading the word. Please share this campaign with your friends and family! The more people hear Monika’s story, the better chances she will get the help she needs ASAP.

Please help us to see Monika and her daughter Marta happy again!

From the bottom of our hearts - thank you.
