Anita's Fight Against Hemorrhagic Stroke

Donation protected
Hi everyone,
I am bringing this post up to speed to provide an update on my mom’s condition what we’ve been able to accomplish for my mom thus far. We are hoping to be able accomplish as much as we can and your continued support means everything during this difficult time.

Anita, a resilient 53-year-old woman, recently experienced a hemorrhagic stroke in the pons of the brain stem. Shockingly, the ICU team suggested withdrawal of treatment within 48 hours of admission, leaving us in a state of disbelief. As we questioned their approach, we sensed a shift in their level of accommodation towards our mother.

The urgency to transition Mom to a nursing facility has been apparent. The hospital's decision has left us with minimal time to explore alternative care options and we feel that the health care providers are not interested in putting in the work to give my mom adequate care. Unfortunately, her condition seems to be worsening, they estimate her outcome to be not worthy of critical emergency In medical intervention.

The hospital staff has communicated that a nursing home is the only viable solution, yet Anita is unable to receive therapy for mobilization, and she does not respond to commands. Despite her critical state, she shares a hospital section with a roommate, and the nurse assigned to her juggles the care of four patients, making it challenging for her to receive the necessary attention.

During my extended presence at the hospital, I've observed limited interactions with my mom from nurses, with the focus on conscious patients leaving me to question their competency and concern for my mom’s recovery. Basic procedures receive attention, but the crucial care required for her complex condition seems lacking.

In our pursuit of the best possible care for her, we have hired a patient advocate to support us. Unfortunately, these services come at a considerable cost, and we want to fill you in on the impact your generous contributions have allowed us to invest in so far:

Patient advocate services from (intensivecarehotline.com):
- 2 days of unlimited 1:1 phone/Skype or email counseling, consulting, and advocacy, including participation in family meetings over the phone and discussions with doctors and nurses ($499).
- Review of medical records for a second opinion ($299).

Currently we have $110 left to spend on additional resources for my mom.

We understand the financial strain many are facing, but any amount you can contribute will make a significant difference in mom’s journey to recovery. Your continued thoughts, prayers, and support are immensely appreciated.

If you have any questions or would like further information, please don't hesitate to reach out. Thank you for being apart of my mom’s journey, coming together to give her the best possible chance at recovery.

With gratitude,
On behalf of our Mom
