My heart feels so heavy as I write this, but I need to share what's happening with our beloved Misty. Just two weeks ago, our sweet 10-year-old Papillon, who is usually so full of life, became incredibly quiet. She wasn't eating, was so tired, and just drinking water constantly. We knew something was terribly wrong, so off to Banfield Pet Hospital we went. They diagnosed her with Pyometra – a really scary uterine infection that required an emergency hysterectomy. It was a huge surgery, but we were so relieved when she pulled through.

But then, yesterday, it was like déjà vu, only worse. Misty was completely lethargic again and wouldn't touch her food. Back to Banfield, and they told us she's in critical condition. They directed us to Cheat Lake Pet Hospital, which is an hour away, but they're specialists, and we'll go anywhere for her.

The wonderful team at Chesapeake Lake thinks they can get her stable if they can keep her for three days. And here's the thing that gives us hope: she IS responding to the medications! They believe a protein transfusion is what she needs to start eating again, and once she's stable, they suspect a GI issue that steroids should help.

My husband and I are truly not the type to ask for help, ever. But Misty is fighting so hard, and we desperately want to give her every chance. The estimated vet bills are looking at a staggering $6,000. And the timing couldn't be worse – we just completely drained our savings for plane tickets to Japan to see my mother-in-law, who is battling stage four pancreatic cancer and is sadly nearing the end of her life. We've tried Care Credit, but it's not an option for us right now.

So, with all the humility in the world, we are reaching out. If you have anything at all to spare, it would be a true blessing and help us give our precious Misty the care she needs to recover. Thank you for even taking the time to read this.

We want to provide you with an update on Misty’s condition. Unfortunately, her recent bloodwork has shown that her blood sugar and blood pressure have increased, Despite this, her protein levels remain critically low. She continues to struggle with her appetite, and as a result, the medical team has had to place a feeding tube to ensure she receives the necessary nutrition. She has had two transfusions and will probably need another one.
