<div>Our world has turned upside down as Miriam, our friend, has been diagnosed with <strong>advanced ovarian cancer</strong>.

<div>15 years ago Mim had breast cancer and had treatments including chemotherapy, a lumpectomy, a double mastectomy and the diagnosis of the BRCA1 gene that can increase her risk of cancer. Miriam, post treatment and cancer free, with her amazing Husband Dave, built the family they had always dreamed of having - three beautiful children: Genevieve now (10), Christian (7), and Nicholas (5).

<div>In September 2023, as a precautionary measure, Miriam made the decision to undergo a hysterectomy to reduce her risk of cancer later in life, But just 11 months later, in August 2024, she began experiencing symptoms of bloating, which she initially dismissed, because what woman doesn’t occasionally have bloating?

<div>After consulting with her doctor and running tests in October 2024, the devastating news hit that she had 3C advanced ovarian cancer.
</div>

<div><strong>Why We Need Your Help</strong>

<div>This diagnosis has completely changed her family’s life. Due to the aggressive nature of ovarian cancer, Miriam now faces intensive chemotherapy treatments, and a major surgery scheduled for January.

<div>As Mim’s treatments continue, the family is finding it increasingly difficult to keep up with the expenses for scans, oncology appointments, medications, and other necessary treatments.
</div>

<div>Beyond the financial burden, Mim is exhausted from the toll of chemotherapy, and the emotional weight of her diagnosis is hard to bear. Miriam and Dave are doing their best to stay strong for their children, make sure they have a ‘normal’ Christmas, to try to bring some light into what has been a very dark time.

<div>We’re hoping to alleviate that financial burden so that Miriam can focus on her treatment, remain positive and, most importantly, spend precious time with her children.

<div>Advanced ovarian cancer is known for having a low survival rate, with only 29% of women diagnosed with advanced-stage ovarian cancer surviving more than five years. On top of that, because of the genetic mutation Miriam carries (the BRCA1 gene), she faces an 80% chance of relapse within three years. This is why every bit of support is so vital—not only for helping them get through this holiday season but for ensuring that Miriam has the time, resources, and care to fight this battle with all her strength.
