<div>My name is Florence, and I am fundraising for my daughter Miracle. This is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do as I am a shy, private, and quiet person. Unfortunately, my daughter needs help and I'm having to do this publicly.
</div>
<div>The hardest thing I have ever had to do is watch my baby daughter suffer and fight for her life following her traumatic birth. Miracle was born on 29th July 2018. She was born with a nuchal cord, which in most pregnancies is not an issue. Unfortunately for Miracle, it was as her umbilical cord was wrapped so tightly around her neck that when she was born, she was not breathing and did not have a first cry after delivery. The medical staff did everything possible to save her. However, she was delivered in a small hospital in Kenya which sadly did not have an incubator. The medical team desperately wanted to warm her and placed her in front of a fan heater. Unfortunately, this lifesaving effort led to Miracle sustaining serious burns on her head and upper arm. The burns were so severe that her head and arm blistered, and infection set in. She needed to be transported to a larger hospital several miles from where we lived so that she could receive the treatment she needed to save her life again. We spent several weeks in the hospital where she underwent operations, and her tiny body was hooked up to drips of antibiotics helping her fight off septicaemia and intravenous pain relief. The burn has left with severe scarring on one side of her head and her upper arm and permanent damage to her hair follicles causing the inability to grow hair at the site of injury. However, I cannot thank the nurses, doctors, and consultants enough for saving my baby. The work they did day in, and day out, was amazing and means I have the most beautifully natured, smiley daughter who I love with all my heart.

<div>As a 6-year-old bubbly and bright girl, Miracle may not yet fully understand the consequences of her early trauma. However, my greatest fear as her mother is that now she is at school she will be ostracised and bullied, leading to her losing her sense of self, her confidence, and her self-esteem.
</div>
<div>I’m asking for help as the consultants have recommended that Miracle needs to undergo a tissue expansion procedure to create extra skin to repair the damaged tissue, sooner rather than later. I would love for her to be able to have the operation, but cannot afford the entire cost alone. The entire procedure costs approximately £7000 which will cover her travel expenses, the initial installation of the silicone balloon expander, the subsequent removal of the balloon, and the redistribution of the new skin to repair the scarred skin. This would be the perfect present I could give her before her 7th birthday, but I cannot do it without the help of kindness and support from others.

<div>Any donation, big or small, will get Miracle one step closer to having the operation that she needs to repair some of the damage and give my precious baby a more positive future. Please help me make this happen.
