Help Minobu Beat Cancer

My name is Sayaka Torra and I'm a Senior Instructor at the East Bay Judo Institute. I've had the opportunity to get to know Minobu-san when her son Yoshiki became a member of EBJI over a decade ago.

Since then I have witnessed Minobu-san giving back to the judo community. She is an active referee on the local and national level. She volunteers her time to help run various tournaments and is the only active referee at CCSF Judo. Minobu-san has also selflessly donated her time to volunteer at various EBJI events over the years.

As if the last year wasn’t challenging enough in and of itself, Minobu-san was told by her doctors she had cervical cancer earlier this year. Thankfully her care team as able to catch it early and she recently underwent a successful surgery to remove the cancer last week.

Unfortunately, her unexpected diagnosis came with associated medical costs that Minobu-san was not anticipating. I've set up this GoFund Me to help offset some of her medical costs and hope that the judo community can help her in any way they can.
