Milton has been helping SOMA families for 20 yrs. as a loyal handyman contractor and he needs our community's help. He and his team of workers (hard working immigrants from Newark and East Orange) have done months of work worth than $20,000 in renovations for a homeowner in SOMA in who is refusing to pay for the work completed. The homeowner is claiming there was no contract for the services (and fraud!) because Milton and the client agreed the prices and services over text. This homeowner threatened to call the police if Milton or his team contacts him for payment. Now Milton has to go to Essex County Court to get paid for the months of work his team already completed. A lawyer has advised Milton that he has an excellent chance of winning his case in court, but he must pay for his legal fees himself. These are honest hard working and vulnerable immigrants that need our help to pay for living expenses to cover months of missing pay. PS This is not a question of Mliton's quality of work or costs. Milton and his team are diligent, hard working and do great work - they renovated my basement and charged typical prices. The SOMA homeowner was clearly pleased with the quality of Milton's work because they continued to ask Milton to do dozens projects over a period of 5 months - repairing a chimney and installing a granite fireplace mantel, drywallig a basement and hallway, repairing exterior foundation, laying a new cement garage floor, painting walls, installing vinyl flooring etc etc.
