I originally tried to study my masters degree in Music Industry Management and Artist Development two years ago. Trying to balance full time work, a masters and touring with my band (plus a study course in teaching at Access Creative on top) meant a total mental breakdown - a precursor to my breakdown last year. I just couldn't do it all.
One of my biggest passions is paying it forward - helping to develop young artists to give them opportunities I would have given all my wisdom teeth and more for if they had been available to me as a teen. Going to study this masters without having to hold down a full time job will ensure I can keep touring and creating music, while becoming a better practitioner for the next generation of musicians and artists.
While you can get funding for the educational aspect of a Masters, unlike a Batchelor's Degree, you do not get living expenses etc.
My rent is £600 a month, not including bills. What I would like to do is work on a very much part time basis in order to eat, travel to and from London (I cannot afford London rent so I will commute two days a week from Norwich) and pay my bills. The money I am trying to raise is purely to try and pay my rent for a year so I know I have some security.
I deferred my Masters for two years so I could heal my mind, recuperate, release our album and get ready. This September will be my last opportunity to go back and complete it, so I need to try and raise the funds by then.
