Help military family replace totaled vehicle

Hi, my name is Erin.

 

We are a military family living in Exeter, NH - having moved here from Washington, DC a few months before lockdown in 2020.

 

My husband has been deployed with the US Army to Eastern Europe this year while I stay here in town with our young children— We truly love this area and plan to make it our permanent home.

 

On March 8, 2022 at 7pm - which was voting night for the town of Exeter - a drunk driver fleeing police crashed into the fence at our house, spun around and crashed into our parked Honda Pilot, totaling it completely. Our Honda was parked in our driveway and the impact to our vehicle by the drunk driver caused it to further crash into our garage and stairs, causing a whole lot of damage.

 

Our Honda was paid off, a low maintenance and efficient vehicle that fit our whole family with car seats.

 

The Fair Market Value for our Honda is next to nothing in terms of what it is costing us to replace our vehicle.  And due to computer chip shortages right now, it is very hard to even find an affordable family car that is available for purchase. We are presently on a waiting list for a vehicle in May, so until then, we will be walking everywhere.

 

This has been a very hard year on my children who already miss their deployed father, and witnessing this accident out of our front window was very traumatic for them.

 

It would be so helpful to get into a new car and put this all behind us, especially if we are not confronted with a massive car loan we can’t afford, a loan we never wanted or needed until this occurred.
