Help Mike & Kelly Usifer Beat Cancer & TBI

I'm calling on all angels to help our dear friends Mike & Kelly Usifer in their time of need. We know it is hard out there, but every dollar can help.

Mainstays on the music scene in NY, this dynamic duo, are fighting battles that MUST be won!! Mike was recently diagnosed with a serious Squamous Carcinoma and will soon be starting treatments. Simultaneously, Kelly has been privately battling to overcome a debilitating TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) which impacts her memory and is shutting down her nervous system.

For more than 36 years Mike has been a mainstay of the underground NY metal scene, starting out in the 1980’s – present, as one of the founding members of the band Prime Evil. An outstanding musician, Mike has also filled in on amazing tours for other bands, notably, Demolition Hammer and others.

Beyond his band work, Mike’s unwavering love and passion for music, led him to open Beacon Sound Works. For a number of years, he had a successful music studio where countless musicians frequented and recorded. Mike produced, recorded, mixed, mastered music for some of the best that NY underground had to offer, until a series of events occurred, a tornado destroying their home, and Covid hit. Their home and business were lost; however, this never killed their unwavering spirits. Additionally, I am personally aware of occasions when Mike & Kelly quietly and selflessly donated their time, energy, and skills to benefit musicians and others on the scene, though they never sought to be recognized in any respect in these instances. They are both truly amazing souls who are very private and would never ask for anything to benefit themselves. With some wrangling, I was given permission to put this page up.

The music industry can be a hard road and it is certainly not forgiving when traumatic illnesses strike. On behalf of every artist, musician, band, and music lover in the NY underground and beyond that have been touched by this amazing couple, I respectfully ask for any donation that you can give to help ease medical costs, groceries, rides to treatments and all that they need not worry about as they push through this.
