My name is Maykel Martinez and I am the son of Mike Martinez. Yesterday, my father, who is well into his 50s, was attacked brutally by his neighbor's dog. It left his lip hanging and deep gashes in his cheek. His arm, which he used to protect his face, is riddled with bite marks. My father has already suffered a heart attack less than 3 years ago and a terrible fall last year that has worsened his condition. His state of mind is as sharp as ever, but his body has sustained injuries that he may not recover from. We expect a recovery from the dog wounds in 6-10 weeks' time. However, my father, despite all his injuries, still continues to work, and my family and I do all we can to support him. But like many, times are tough, and we are seeking help so that my father may retire and take time to properly heal and enjoy his life. It pains me as a son to see my father in the state he is in. I continue to do all I can to help and support him, but the hospital bills and my wish to see him retired may be too much for myself and my family to handle. I have a daughter who just turned two, and seeing her cry at grandpa's injuries only strengthens my steel resolve to help my father. So here I am, hoping and praying that others may help me give my father peace of mind and comfort. The money will be used towards any hospital bills or quality of life items he may need that do not fall under the insurance coverage !
