My name is Robert and I own a small construction company based in North Texas.

I am reaching out on behalf of Miguel Piru, who is by far one of the best painters and drywall techs I have ever worked with in 30 years.

We are on a job site in Austin working for a great family, and we had a severe accident this past week. Miguel fell from a second-story scaffold and broke his leg in 5 places, including shattering both the tibia and fibula, along with the ankle and a torn ACL.

Miguel now requires major surgery that will include rods, pins, and plates, and a second surgery a few months later. Unfortunately, like many people, he doesn’t have and can’t afford insurance, which means he can’t get the care he needs to repair the damage. If we can get him the surgery, then he can begin his 6-9 month journey to be able to walk again. Without the surgery… well, I’m not sure what would happen if that were the case.

Miguel is 51 and, with his lovely wife, they have 3 beautiful daughters. He is by far the most humble man I have ever known. This man has a trade skill that he has perfected over 30 years and depends on that skill to provide for his family. Being out of work for the next 6-9 months will be devastating to him if he cannot provide the necessities for his family.

When I was in the emergency room with him, he said, “I don’t care about my leg, I care about taking care of my girls, putting food on the table, and paying my bills.”

I truly want to help Miguel and his family get the care that he needs, keep the lights on, and a roof over their head. I would greatly appreciate any help you can offer!
