My name is Michelle, and I’m a transgender woman working toward completing my transition. My family and I have faced a lot of challenges. Hiring trans women is often seen as a political statement, and it’s made it nearly impossible for us to afford the insurance deductible needed for my surgeries. We even moved to rural Massachusetts so I could feel safer and get on the right insurance plan, but we’re still struggling to cover the costs. With the current political climate, we’re terrified that trans healthcare could be outlawed before I reach key milestones in my transition.

The most urgent procedures I need are facial and vocal feminization surgeries. These are critical for my safety and well-being, helping me avoid being targeted or harassed for being transgender. Every day, I face fear and anxiety just trying to live authentically. My family has been incredibly supportive, making sacrifices so I can have a chance at a safer, happier life. Reaching my fundraising amount would mean I could finally look in the mirror and see myself, free from self-loathing and fear. I'm currently Doordashing, applying for jobs that actually match my resumé, Homebrewing D&D Content in the hopes of selling it, and attempting to grow my online presence as a means of self-advertising, but so far, it's not enough, and as a full time mom on top of everything, I don't have time to do more.

I want people to know that, despite everything, I’m determined to live my truth. The best revenge against bigotry is to thrive and be happy, and maybe, as I like to joke, to be hot. Your support will help me and my family get through this difficult time and move forward with hope.
