Tonight, my sister Michelle went through something no family ever expects — her car suddenly caught on fire. Thankfully, she and my 12-year-old nephew made it out safely. But now, she’s without transportation, and for her family, a car is so much more than just a way to get around.

Michelle’s son is nonverbal and autistic. Car rides are one of his greatest sources of comfort and joy. They help calm him when the world feels overwhelming, and they’re often the best way to bring him peace. Losing the car has taken away not only their only mode of transportation, but also one of the most important tools Michelle has to support her son’s needs.

Michelle works hard to provide for her family, but money has always been tight. Replacing a car is something she simply can’t do on her own right now. That’s why we’re asking for help. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward getting Michelle a safe, reliable vehicle so she can continue caring for her son and giving him the comfort he loves so much.
