Mercury, our sweet three-year-old black and white kitty, has always been a gentle presence in our home. He’s usually quiet, but when breakfast is late, he’ll dash around the house until he’s served. His unique fur pattern—an eclipse-like design with two half-black almond shapes on his front legs that form a heart when he stands—makes him truly one of a kind. Mercury is the third of our four adopted cats, each with their own story: Zephyrus, our oldest, is half white and half tortoise; Blaze is a full tortoise; and Gossamer, the youngest, is all white with a black toupee and tail. All of them came to us from shelters or tough situations, and they’ve become our family. 
 
 
 
 Recently, Mercury had a sudden health crisis. One evening, he began yowling and acting strangely, something he never does. We rushed him to the emergency vet, where we learned he was blocked and in significant pain. The vet team acted quickly, and Mercury spent two days at the clinic recovering. We were told that if we had waited even a day longer, he might not have made it. Bringing him home was a huge relief, but the experience left us with a large bill on our care card. With me out of work due to my own health diagnosis, and after already using the card for Zephyrus’s dental surgery, we’re struggling to keep up with the payments. Our savings were stretched thin during COVID, and now we’re reaching out for help for the first time. 
 
 
 
 The funds raised will go directly toward paying off Mercury’s emergency care and easing the financial strain on our family. We also hope to give a small donation to our local Pet Resource, which has helped us care for our boys over the years. Any support will help us keep our family together and ensure Mercury and his brothers stay healthy and happy.
