Help Melissa Marie Beat Breast Cancer

Our good friend Melissa Marie was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer (Invasive Ductal Carcinoma) on June 2nd, 2020 and we want to help her beat it. She is one of the hardest workers we know and wants to keep working in order to pay her bills even though she just started chemotherapy treatment yesterday. She didn't ask for this page to be made. We volunteered to make this so she can focus her energy on beating cancer -- instead of working long days on top of raising her children during treatment.

Melissa Marie has been a single mom for nine years to two beautiful children, Kaitlyn (13) and Carl (10). Her son Carl was diagnosed with Autism at age three and Melissa took him to treatments on her own. She put herself through cosmetology school while going through her divorce and cleaned homes to support her children while building her clientele as a hairstylist. Five years ago, she started her business: Melissa Marie Salon  in Wausau, WI. Her business was thriving and she had just moved her salon into a larger location before COVID-19 hit. Sadly, she had to close her salon as it was considered non-essential.

While all this was going on, she noticed a lump in her breast but was nervous about getting it checked due to the COVID-19 pandemic. When businesses started opening back up in Wisconsin, she called her doctor who got her a mammogram and ultrasound — and unfortunately found out that it was a tumor and the cancer had spread to stage 3.  The cancer is so aggressive that she had to start chemotherapy the following week (yesterday). Her tumor cannot be operated on until chemotherapy shrinks it.

She is well loved in her community and known for putting a smile on other’s faces with her bright personality. We are all rooting for her to beat this!
