<div>Ik ben deze actie gestart voor een hele bijzondere vriendin van mij.

<div>Vorige week is haar hulphond plotseling overleden. Hij was 9 jaar oud en vanaf dat hij een puppy was bij haar. Ze waren samen door dik en dun gegaan en waren eigenlijk onafscheidelijk. Hij was niet zomaar een hond voor haar, hij was haar steun, haar veiligheid en degene die haar hielp om iedere dag weer door te komen.

<div>Mijn vriendin heeft door haar verleden zware trauma’s en een posttraumatische stressstoornis (PTSS). Haar hulphond hielp haar om naar buiten te gaan, om rust te vinden tijdens moeilijke momenten en om niet terug te vallen in oude patronen.

</div>
<div>Helaas worden hulphonden voor mensen met psychische klachten vaak niet vergoed vanuit de maatschappij of verzekering. Dit terwijl bijvoorbeeld een blindengeleidehond grotendeels wel wordt vergoed. Haar behandelend arts en therapeut hebben geholpen met de aanvraag voor een vergoeding, maar deze is afgewezen omdat haar situatie volgens de beoordeling niet "belastend genoeg" zou zijn. Daarbij werd ook meegewogen dat ze nog jong is, terwijl de gevolgen van haar trauma’s voor haar dagelijks leven enorm zijn.

<div>Haar eerste hulphond kreeg ze toen ze 17 jaar was via een stichting die destijds een donatieactie heeft opgezet. Helaas richt deze stichting zich nu alleen nog op kinderen, waardoor we daar geen beroep meer op kunnen doen.

</div>
<div>Met deze actie willen we voorkomen dat ze weer volledig geïsoleerd raakt. Zonder haar hulphond durft ze nauwelijks naar buiten en bestaat het risico dat haar klachten weer sterk toenemen. Dit kan leiden tot ernstige paniekaanvallen, het opnieuw beleven van haar trauma’s en momenten waarop zelfbeschadiging weer een gevaar wordt.

<div>Een nieuwe hulphond betekent voor haar niet alleen een hond. Het betekent weer vrijheid, vertrouwen, zelfstandigheid en de mogelijkheid om haar leven verder op te bouwen.

<div>Het bedrag dat we proberen op te halen lijkt misschien veel, maar hierin zitten alle kosten die nodig zijn om samen weer een goede start te maken:
</div>

</div>
<div>* de aanschaf van een pup bij dezelfde fokker waar haar vorige hulphond vandaan kwam;
</div>
<div>* de opleiding die ze samen moeten volgen;
</div>
<div>* alle noodzakelijke spullen die nodig zijn voor een hulphond.

<div>Daarbij gaat het niet alleen om een riem en een halsband. Denk bijvoorbeeld aan een geschikte autobench en andere materialen die nodig zijn voor de veiligheid, training en het dagelijks leven met een hulphond.

</div>
<div>Iedere bijdrage, groot of klein, helpt haar om weer een stukje zelfstandigheid, vertrouwen en veiligheid terug te krijgen.

<div>Kun je niet doneren? Ook dan kun je enorm helpen door deze actie te delen. Elke deelactie zorgt ervoor dat meer mensen haar verhaal kunnen lezen en vergroot de kans dat we de juiste mensen bereiken die haar kunnen helpen. Soms kan één simpele deelactie precies bij de persoon terechtkomen die het verschil kan maken.

<div>**Help My Friend Get a New Service Dog**

<div>I started this fundraiser for a very special friend of mine.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Last week, her service dog suddenly passed away. He was 9 years old and had been by her side since he was a puppy. They went through everything together and were truly inseparable. He was not just a dog to her — he was her support system, her sense of safety, and the one who helped her face each day.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My friend has experienced severe trauma in her past and lives with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Her service dog helped her leave the house, manage overwhelming moments, and stay grounded when her symptoms became difficult to handle.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, service dogs for people with psychiatric disabilities are often not covered by insurance or public support. This is very different from guide dogs for people who are blind, which are often recognized and receive financial assistance. Her treating doctor and therapist supported her application for funding, but it was denied because her case was considered not "severe enough." One of the factors taken into account was her age, even though the impact of her trauma has a major effect on her daily life.

<div>Her first service dog was provided when she was 17 years old through a foundation that organized a donation campaign at the time. Unfortunately, that foundation now only supports children, so we are no longer able to ask them for help.
</div>

</div>
<div>With this fundraiser, we want to prevent her from becoming isolated again. Without her service dog, she struggles to go outside, and there is a real risk that her symptoms will worsen. This could lead to severe panic attacks, reliving traumatic experiences, and moments where self-harm becomes a serious risk again.
</div>

</div>
<div>A new service dog is not just a dog for her. It means freedom, independence, confidence, and the ability to continue rebuilding her life.
</div>

</div>
<div>The amount we are trying to raise may seem high, but it covers the costs needed to begin this journey:
</div>

<div>* purchasing a puppy from the same breeder where her previous service dog came from;
</div>
<div>* the training program they will complete together;
</div>
<div>* the necessary equipment required for a service dog.
</div>

</div>
<div>This is not just about a leash and a collar. It includes important items such as a proper vehicle crate and other equipment needed for safety, training, and everyday life.
</div>

<div>Every donation, no matter how small, helps her regain independence, confidence, and a sense of security.
</div>
