Jok Church was the creator of the popular TV series Beakman's World and the science comic strip You Can with Beakman and Jax. Jok introduced millions of children around the world to the wonders of science. He was an author, an artist, a broadcaster, an activist, an educator, and a kinky gay man whose life was an example of overcoming adversity and challenge, as illustrated in his 2007 TED talk. As his best friend and executor, I am responsible for preserving his life's work. Since his death in 2016 I began to understand him even better, and I realized that his life, lived with courage and imagination, had significance for people in many different communities. I am raising funds to tell the story of this unique and courageous man whose life will amaze and inspire, and who truly is deserving of recognition.
