Dear Friends and Family,
Beginning in May of 2018 I will embark on a journey that is going to be the true test of my physical and mental strength - I will be hiking the 2,663 miles that the Pacific Crest Trail has to offer. The PCT is one of the longest man-made trails in North America, and goes through three states (California, Oregon, & Washington) that include the Mojave Desert, 25 national forests and 7 national parks.
This incredible 5-month journey toward personal growth will be no easy feat. Trekking through the desert, high Sierras, and rainy Pacific Northwest requires a lot of specific gear to ensure my safety and comfort. In the past few years, the PCT has been greatly affected by some of the highest snow levels California has ever seen, as well as incredibly damaging wildfires throughout the Pacific Northwest, making the trek more technical than ever before. Your generous and thoughtful donations will help me to purchase necessary gear, food, and cover the costs to ship myself resupply boxes.
Since living in Colorado, my love for the outdoors has grown exponentially. The inner peace and clarity I feel when reaching the top of a difficult rock climb or the last steps I take to the summit of a mountain have taught me a great deal about the strength I possess that I didn't even know I had. I yearn for more experiences like these to help in shaping me into the human being I hope to become. Having recently graduated from the University of Denver, rather than jumping right into a long-term job, I feel what's most important in my life right now is some time for growth and self-discovery. The vast unknown that lies out there absolutely terrifies me, but I am determined to push myself further and harder than I ever have before. I feel there is no better time in my life than now to go out on this quest.
