Help me walk again and recover from aftermath of 2 cancers

Dear friends, family and kind-hearted strangers,

By Fall 2022, I wasn't feeling really very good. After a couple routine doctor’s appointment, I was diagnosed with leukemia and another form of cancer -a second form of cancer, which I am still battling. By Christmas of this past year, I could virtually not walk and was diagnosed with a reaction from the chemo by a neurologist at NYU. I am currently in remission from the leukemia, but not the cancer.

By the first week of this year, I could no longer walk. So now, I'm faced with being unable to walk. My left hand is completely gnarled and I'm having a hard time doing anything for myself. I went out of my apartment to go to a doctor’s appointment in January and I haven't been home since. My cats miss me. I'm very lucky to have a really great friend who is minding the apartment, but financially, I am just totally strapped - emotionally and physically. I am not doing really very well. I don't have an answer about the recovery on this. Although I've given a fairly good chance of being able to walk again with physical therapy. If not, I'm gonna be in a wheelchair, and certainly when I come home in the next several weeks I will be in a wheelchair, which means that I will need to buy an electric scooter, as I can’t use hand wheelchairs, with my current left-hand problem. So, I am humbly asking for contributions to help me pay my bills --pay my rent, the utilities and you know, stay alive while I am in recovery.

Currently, I am in a recovery facility on Riverside Drive on the upper West side. It has the best physical therapy in the city that I could find in the hospitals that have physical therapy programs and that I could get into. I need help being able to finance that to stay alive, feed my cats, pay my some of my bills, and get well, and physically take care of myself. I wanna get back to a somewhat normal life. I have a wish that I wanna dance again. I mean, even something simple as dancing at somebody's wedding. I'm not used to not being able to take care of myself, so I'm asking for financial help from my friends. Based on my current health situation, I will be needing a caretaker at home, with 24/7 assistance. Social Security and Medicaid will help, but it will not nearly cover for all the expenses. At the moment, my apartment is upside down, to make room for a wheelchair - redesigning it will also cost money. I humbly ask for your help.

I want to thank many of my friends who have stepped in to do things for free for me -to go grocery shopping, to take care of the cats, do laundry, and do other things I am unable to do or supervise at this point. I have a wonderful new friend Onassis, who has just been a godsend. I am hoping that by Christmas of this year I'll be modestly walking and not bound to wheelchair. I plan to be around for a long, long time, the bottom of my heart I thank everyone one of you in advance for helping. You know I love you guys.
