Hi, my name is Danielle Cantal, but I’m sure most of you know me as Dani. I have started this page to make my dream of competing at the World Under 24 Ultimate Championships a reality. I will be travelling to Perth, Australia to represent Canada at this once in a lifetime event. This is a huge event with over 35 teams and 750 athletes and I have been selected to participate as part of the Canadian women’s team.
In order to be chosen for the national team, I trained long and hard to be selected to attend a weekend-long training camp in Montreal. During the tryout, I suffered a concussion and was forced to sit out for the second day. I thought this would definitely hinder my chances. However, after a long and nervous wait, I got the news that I would have the honor of representing my country in Australia. I feel lucky to have been selected after all my hard work and commitment to the sport, and even more lucky to have such a great support system, that allows me to go on a big adventure like this.
Throughout all my ultimate career, so many people have helped me from coaches and mentors, to friends, family, team mates, and some other special people. So many of you reading this are a part of the player I am, and for that I am very thankful. Even though you all have already given so much, I humbly find myself in a position where I need to ask for just a little bit more help.
Now that I have earned myself a place on team Canada, it seems only one thing stands in the way of me and my dream. The last problem I am left with is the financial burden of attending the week-long tournament so far away. That is why I am asking all of you for any help that you would be so kind to offer.
The costs of this journey are unimaginably high, especially for a bubbly and friendly Starbucks barista like yours truly. The total costs will be multiple thousands of dollars, with team fees expected to be around $2,500, which doesn’t even include the pricy flight to the land down under. That’s where I need your help.
Whether you know me as a team mate, class mate, relative, friend, barista, or even just a person you kind of know, I would be very grateful for your help.
