Amy needs help please

Where do I begin ! Well I am here asking for all your help ! My dearest friend has TOLD me in no uncertain terms to burry my pride and tell you all why I am here .

Poor Amy is now 15 and for the past two years has had the most bad luck ever in the foot department (ok and maybe a few other areas ! ) when we went to america she  developed an ingrown toe nail and after infection after infection after infection a year later we managed to get half the nail removed under local anaesthetic, this  was so traumatic for her ( and me watching !) the needle went straight through her toe and I remember thinking I’m sure that liquid should be going into her toe and not across the room ! After an hour of digging and cutting the nail was removed and I took home a very sad and sore daughter !

Within 6 months the nail began to grow and we could not believe it ! Back to the doctor and more Antibiotics  for the infection   Started again  ! We were referred to an orthopaedic  surgeon this time and for a general anaesthetic as Amy was now traumatised by the whole needle and knife experience !

Another 6 months passed and we eventually got an appointment for the operation and the surgeon removed both sides to the nail perfectly ! All while she was knocked out !

What a year it was and what what a waste of a young persons life !School suffered , sports stopped and Amy became more withdrawn from society , wearing a trainer caused her toe to rub  so much that it broke the infection open , so she avoided wearing anything on her foot at all .

So after the operation and healing process life seemed to improve for Amy , she started college and sports again !

At christmas amy commented that her big toe on the other foot was really sore and so immediately we went to the doctor and she confirmed it was the start again of the ingrowing nail ! Sadly she said you are just unlucky to have nails that grow like that ! It became worse and worse and quite quickly we are back where we were two years ago ! Except this time it’s both sides that immediately got infected puffy swollen and bleeds daily , so no trainers again ! Sports stopped and college ! It’s ruining her life !

The doctor referred us to the orthopedic team again to get her booked in for the whole to be nail removed !

The waiting list seems worse than ever this time , we don’t even have an initial
appointment yet ! Then it will be 6-9 months wait for the operation! These toes have literally ruined her teenage years !

So I started thinking how much would it be to go private and get her knocked out to sleep but getting it done ASAP to avoid any more loss on college , social meets with her friends and sports.

I have spoken with the rivers and yes they can do it for £1800 after I picked myself up of the floor with shock of the price jay and I spoke and yes of course we want to do it for her but we havnt that sort of money laying around . So here I am again , I can’t even begin to express how much Amy’s life has been effected by this flipping toes . No end of external support from outside bodies hasnt helped her! ,and the isolation that has been caused from her not going out , and in pain and staying in her room all the time is horrid to watch .

i desperately want to get this sorted for her , I need her to back in college and preparing for a course next year , her whole life’s is effected by this ! It breaks my heart .

So any donation would be so overwhelming, and I thankyou from the bottom of my heart for reading this . Life is a shit sometimes and I  do wonder some days what else can be thrown at the phypers! But we r strong and somehow we will sort amy out , just maybe needing a little help from our friends .

love u all
