Hi, my name is Jess,
i’m Lauren’s younger sister and i’m asking if people would be so kind in helping us raise up to £5,000 in order to get Lauren some specialist care to hopefully finally get a diagnosis and the right help/treatment for what she has been suffering with for the past five years now.
we don’t like to ask for help, but in this case we are losing all hope and honestly don’t know where else to turn.
Abit of back story..
So Lauren (30 years of age) has been going to and from the doctors and hospital for five years now for every scan and test imaginable after an accident in the gym that left her with an injured neck/spine, but she has had no luck so far with all the “help” from the doctors, and people just putting it down to “she’s got anxiety” but Lauren knows her body and knows something is wrong and is trying to push for more answers as she’s tried everything possible, she’s tried the pills, the potions, the lotions, the therapy, the massages, the EVERYTHING all the treatments and appointments/referrals the nhs have offered and thrown her way even paying out her own pocket for scans, physiotherapists and chiropractors (that haven’t even felt comfortable enough to touch her) because she was getting so desperate, to just get no where, nothing has been of any use so far.
However Lauren is still suffering from scary symptoms on the daily that just doesn’t add up to what the doctors are saying, from fainting spells to fast heart rates to vision issues and the inability to be upright for long periods of time due to chronic pain and is slowly deteriorating spending most of her time in bed not wanting to do anything or make anything worse, everything is just becoming so debilitating and because of this Lauren’s even currently looking at possibly having to give up her jobs as it’s becoming too much which if we get her help fast enough hopefully we can avoid happening but we feel like we are being failed and not listened to properly by the nhs and they are just not moving fast enough, it’s been five years to just keep ending up at dead ends left with no help, advice or any hope in sight.
As a family this has been absolutely devastating to us as when this all happened to Lauren she was the fittest and healthiest she had ever been, going to the gym loosing weight and even looking into becoming a personal trainer herself to help other people, we was so proud of her and everything she was achieving so to see her deteriorate in this way and her dreams be stripped and not getting the answers and help she needs is honestly heartbreaking and I as her sister am so lost and feel so useless i just want my sister back, we live most our days together in absolute despair not knowing who to turn to or who to call or what to do as said above we feel like we’ve done everything possible with the little we have and we’re now being laughed at by the doctors and turned away by their referrals so we feel stuck, it’s all very disheartening and we’re really struggling to get lauren back to some kind of normality because how she is living is not it.
Moving Forward..
With your help we are hoping that there may be some light at the end of this very long, very dark, sad tunnel we’ve all been encased in as we have recently been advised to seek help from a private neurosurgeon called Mr Timothy, Mr Timothy is a Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon in Leeds who is well experienced with issues in the upper spine who can help Lauren and will investigate further into her issues than the nhs are willing to.
With Lauren having to take so much time off work due to illness and us as her family having to make up for it on the bills side of things we’re all stuck and struggling to get the money together quick enough to see Timothy as just for a consultation it’s £400 and before she sees him she needs expensive private scans to help aid in her diagnosis and any follow up appointments after that is £200 a pop not to mention travel and possible hotel costs, but we are desperate to get her to see him asap before she makes any kind of decisions like coming out of work full time or work decide it for her because she is becoming so unreliable, but in all honesty none of us know what we’re dealing with here and what Lauren should or shouldn’t be doing it’s scary and we feel like we’re running out of time.
Thank you so much for reading and for any donations it’s much appreciated
every little helps and will be going into helping Lauren get a diagnosis so we can get on to a proper treatment plan so she can have a better quality of life because this is no way for a young girl to be living, anyone who knows Lauren personally knows how long she’s been suffering and all the ways she’s actually tried to help herself so it never had to come down to us asking for help like this, but we can’t sit back anymore and watch her lose anymore of her young years and watch the medical system keep gaslighting her which is why I’m reaching out for help on her behalf as I know it’s something Lauren hasn’t wanted to do herself, thank you x
