<div>As a lot of you know, last year I had a nasty accident on my one wheel, which left me with what is called PCS (Post Concussion Syndrome). This has left me with permanent issues. My neurologist said that unfortunately, in some patients, there can be long-term issues. I've been pretty open about my condition on social media, though I have left out a few details. I have amazing insurance through my work. The only downfall is I have been through 4 different neurologists, trying to figure out the best course of action, plus multiple scans in order to better diagnose my situation. Given this, I have had to deal with a few out-of-network expenses. I needed to seek advice in order to fully figure out what could be done to help with my neurological and mental state. I have nerve damage which has stemmed from this injury as well as ongoing night terrors that plague me nightly. I see a psychologist and a psychiatrist in order to get medications and things sorted out to help with my mental state. It has been extremely taxing. I am truly grateful for the company I work with. While all this has been going on, they have been truly understanding of my situation and want what is best for me.

<div>Insurance is great and all until they decide to not cover out-of-network costs, including an extremely expensive ambulance ride due to the ambulance being a private company. I have fought with my insurance to get any of it covered, and they barely put a dent in the amount that is owed. The ambulance ride was necessary due to the extent of my head trauma, as I had to be transferred from Bellevue, NE ER to the trauma center in downtown Omaha.

<div>After my accident last year, I was down from work for over 3-4 months, which my job was amazing and kept me on through it all. I managed to get on short-term disability, which made it to where I could barely stay afloat, and unfortunately, after a couple of months, I had to start putting expenses on my credit cards, which racked up pretty quickly. All of this has played into my current situation. I got into a cheaper vehicle, which has lowered my payments some. I have been selling off assets and trying to get rid of whatever I can. Unfortunately, getting out from my camper has been impossible. I have started 3D design stuff and got a 3D printer in order to sell my designs. The market is so flooded with this now that it is hard to sell anything. I am doing what I can to try and financially recover. I am very prideful and I hate asking for help, but at this point in my life, I am at a loss at what to do. I do not want to leave the current company I work for. I love them and I make good money with them, just sadly not enough to get me out from under what I currently owe, and I am finally sinking in debt. I truly hate asking for help. I am always the one willing to give my shirt off my back to anyone in need. I just feel at this point in my life, I truly need help.

<div> I am on the verge of filing bankruptcy in order to get out from under a lot of my medical debt, which has me stuck at a point where I just don't know what to do. Had 1 bill go to a debt collector who took it to court and tried to garnish my paychecks. Which I am trying to avoid any other medical bills from doing the same.

<div>I am in the process of also moving in the near future.  It was a hard decision to make. I just want to move on with my life and be happy again. I hide my pain in order to not bring anyone else down around me. I hate writing this out right now. I don't want people to pity me. I just want people to understand what I have been going through.

<div>After 2020, I put a lot of the money I had saved into the non-profit Disc For Life. I wanted to see it succeed. I did what was necessary, and at the end of the day, I wouldn't take any of that money back, as that non-profit is growing into something so amazing. It is a passion of love, and I am glad I could fund the first few years of us getting things off the ground and connecting with so many people. I look back on it now and have no regrets. Things in life happen for a reason. It is my favorite saying. Becoming an advocate for suicide prevention and mental health awareness will always be something I do. It is a part of me.
