Help me support Canada National Karaoke Champion
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Suzanne Rouleau and I am the incredibly lucky fiancee of John Wiest, the recent National Karaoke Champion for Canada. John took first place as a soloist and also first place in the duets with his bestie, Mike Smoroden, in the Canada National Competition here in Calgary, Alberta on the July long weekend 2022. The next step is that John (and Mike) will go to Norway in the second week of August to represent Canada in the World Karaoke Competition.
Anyone who knows John knows that he is very humble and generally focuses on supporting, cheering on, and lifting up others and does not focus on himself. Although I had complete belief in him and his incredible vocal talent, performance ability, and dance moves, he was absolutely stunned to learn that he won 1st place in both solos and duets this year. I am not sure if it has sunk in yet how amazing this truly is for him.
John has been involved in music in various ways for many years: playing the piano and various instruments, singing through Revv52, various choirs and quartet groups and his band Crybaby. He also arranges music for Revv52 and has an incredible talent for all things music. I am so very proud of him as he has worked really hard to get to this point where his talent is being recognized on a world stage.
We are so happy that John's flight and accommodations are covered for his trip to Norway through the amazing KWC organization here in Canada, but I too, would really like to join my soon-to-be husband in Norway to support him and be there for this once in a lifetime opportunity.
After two years of isolation in the pandemic and work and life stresses that have been really, really hard lately, we really need to focus on some good things in our life.
Anyone who knows both of us, will know that neither of us are good at asking for help. Writing this ask is really hard. Honestly, we do not currently have the funds for me to go with him at this time, so I thought I would be brave and put on my big girl panties and ask for help. The funds raised will go towards paying for my flight to Norway, which is currently sitting at $2500 and rising, cover fees for this fundraising, and maybe cover some food and spending money while we are there.
We would be so grateful for anything you can offer, regardless of the size of the donation. You would be contributing to a life-changing trip for us and ultimately support John by helping me be there to support John in person. Thank you in advance for your support, monetarily or otherwise.
