Hello everyone, My name is Walter, and I am 32 years old. I am reaching out to you all today to share my story and ask for your help. 

When I was 8, my symptoms of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) were ignored by doctors for almost year. By that time it was too late. This led to 8 of my now 16 surgeries.  Aside from the hole in my esophagus and vocal cord dysfunction, this condition also severely decayed my teeth. And no matter what I did the effects couldn’t be reversed or remedied. As an adult, GERD made a reoccurrence in my life, presenting the same problems once again. A few weeks ago, I sought help at Aspen Dental. Unfortunately, this experience turned out to be a nightmare. I came in to get a broken tooth replaced but was pressured into getting all my upper teeth removed. I was told they were all bad by one dentist and the other said they were strong, day of the procedure. I wished I would’ve looked into the company first and their bad reputation but I was desperate. They removed all of my top teeth, but the procedure was anything but smooth. I was not properly sedated, and I felt every pull and crack. With my blood pressure soaring over 150/90 and a heart murmur, I genuinely believed I was dying in that chair. It was a traumatic experience, one that I never wish to repeat.
 I run a nonprofit organization called the Brister English Project, helping American descendants of chattel slavery with their genealogy, and I have big plans to take it on the road with live events. My smile is crucial to my work, and without it, I feel lost. Due to the pain and the negligence of the dentist, I've been unable to eat, sleep, or create the videos needed to promote and advance my nonprofit in the right direction. I can’t even kiss my wife without experiencing pain. Today, I am reaching out to you all because I need dental implants. As someone who has already gone through so much, the thought of facing another dental procedure is daunting. But I know it's necessary. I miss being able to smile without feeling self-conscious. I miss being able to eat without pain or difficulty. The cost of the dental implants I need is $24,000, a sum I cannot afford on my own. Therefore, I am humbly asking for your help. Any contribution, no matter how small, will bring me one step closer to restoring my smile and my confidence. This journey is not just about regaining my physical health; it's also about healing from the emotional trauma caused by my previous experiences. It's about reclaiming my life from the shadow of past medical neglect and malpractice. I wish to have this procedure done at Four Ever Smile in Buffalo, NY, or any reputable All-On-Four location that is not my previous dentist. Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
