My journey toward discovering how I can best serve others has led me here- embracing an opportunity to help others resolve conflicts and connect more deeply as human beings.
I have the chance to serve in AmeriCorps for 1 year as a Prisoner Re-Entry Mediation Specialist in Salisbury, Maryland. This position gives me training in mediation and the chance to mediate conflicts (as well as teach conflict resolution) both to current inmates and those who have been recently released.
What I need from you: This job involves commuting to and from the prison which is not accessible via public transportation. So I need the money to transport myself! From my research I believe that by raising $2,000 I can buy a reliable car- nothing fancy, my only requirement is that it will not break down in less than a year!
I am also open to borrowing someone's car, so if that is something you can offer for just a year, please let me know (I can offer $ for the wear and tear).
The start date for this job has already passed, but AmeriCorps will still let me serve, if I can acquire a car ASAP!
