I've been praying on this situation and the Lord has led me first to my knees and now to this venture.   My mother's name is Sophia Lyles, she is 78 years old.  Sophia is a colon cancer survivor whose Medicare co-payments for medicine and medical equipment are very costly. Sophia was barely making ends meet and is now nearly drowning, trying to live off of her sole source of income, her very unsubstantial monthly social security check. Sophia was once the Head Teller at the National Bank of Washington.  The bank collapsed and overnight her 30 year tenure ended with zero retirement benefits.  Mom’s husband passed away years ago and the funeral costs wiped out her meager savings.  She’s been able to survive this long by rooming with her last surviving sibling, Mary Robinson.  However my mom lost her loving sister and roommate in May of 2018.  When my aunt was alive, their household income included my aunt's retirement and social security benefits. Consequently, in addition to losing the companionship of her sister, practically speaking, that income was also lost.  What's at stake?  Losing her home and the 1 acre of land on James Island in Charleston, SC left to her by her parents.  She is devastated  by the thought of losing this property that has been in her family for so long.  Me, Mary Beckwith and my niece Kristi Holmes-Smith are doing all that we can to financially help her to hold on, but with no help from any other family members, we are running out of life line. We humbly ask for your prayers and any help that the Lord puts on your heart to provide.  The money will be used to pay the mortgage and hopefully to make much needed repairs to the home which is currently in a state of disrepair.
