Help me save Hershey!

Hershey was found on the side of the highway on the 13th.. he was surrendered to The Feral Dogs of Avondale Mills and Friends Rescue where they did everything they could to help him. They got him to a vet and radiographs showed he has a radius/ulna fracture on his left front leg and his right leg has a carpal luxation (dislocated wrist). He was also determined heartworm positive. I followed his story through their Facebook and I saw where they were in desperate need of help to get him the immediate treatment he needed. I am currently a Veterinary Medical Technology student at Mississippi State University and thankfully I receive an amazing discount of 50% off everything treatment wise. So I decided to take ownership of Hershey and get him the care he desperately had to have. On Wednesday he was transported to me and we immediately fell in love. More x-rays were taken and they showed the severity of his breaks... he has been living/walking on these injuries for about 4 weeks now. He also has two bullets in his hind end (not a health concern) but it shows how this poor sweet 4 year old chocolate lab has not been in a home that has cared about him. He is the sweetest dog and it is astounding to see his will to live. I am a lab lover, I have a male Silver Lab named Luke, who is my entire world and I knew I was in the position to give Hershey the care he needs. I will be the one to rehabilitate him after his procedures! Yesterday the amazing surgeons here at MSU took him back for surgery.. they originally planned to do both legs at the same time but the fracture itself took 5 hours.. there was so much callus build up from how old the injury was that it was a very difficult procedure to visualize. He will be having his carpal surgery on Monday. I’m asking for donations because although I get this great deal on these procedures there are still many expenses that have to be met. The rescue gave me a wonderful down payment for his surgeries and that is taken care of but there are still many dues that I will owe. If you have been touched by his story and want to help me save this baby’s life (he was going to have to be euthanized otherwise) then feel free to donate! Any amount will help. Follow me on Facebook and you can see daily updates on Hershey and his journey to recovery! Thank you so much & a HUGE thank you to everyone that has helped Hershey get this far!! Any leftover money that does not have to be used for his medical bills will be donated to The Feral Dogs of Avondale Mills Rescue!
