Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm running the Great Scottish Half Marathon to raise money in aid of Volunteer Glasgow’s intandem youth mentoring programme. This is a cause that means so much to me, and every donation really will help.
intandem provides trained volunteer mentors for young people aged between 8-14 years who are looked after by their local authority, but living at home. Mentoring helps build up the young person’s confidence and makes them feel good about themselves, especially in times where they may not have lots of other support. The mentor helps to guide the young person through difficult times in their life, ultimately helping them to succeed in school and beyond.
This cause means so much to me because I’m a volunteer mentor with intandem. I have been mentoring a young boy for the past 2 years, helping him become more confident and achieve his potential. This is done through weekly outings, which introduce the young person to new experiences or activities they wouldn’t normally be able to enjoy, such as playing football or going to the cinema. As little as £10 can help pay for activities on these outings, and really make a difference in a young person’s life. I’ve seen it first-hand.
Everything I raise is going towards funding for new volunteer mentors, so even more young people can benefit from intandem’s work check out what we do here
. Please make a donation so, when I run on the 29th of September, every step will be helping a young person.
