Last year was my first year participating as a Shoe Guy where I won the title of King of Sole. I also won Best in Shoe for the Flats category.

<div>My wife, who was affected by domestic violence in the past, is an amazing woman who I love with all of my heart. While she was able to escape from that relationship on her own, not all people are. I have seen what A Safe Place offers and got to know a few of the people who are being helped. The organization truly has a positive impact on peoples lives.

<div>A Safe Place is the sole provider of services exclusively focusing on domestic violence victims in Lake County, Illinois. Through comprehensive services, A Safe Place provides crisis counseling, courthouse advocacy and help obtaining orders of protection, emergency shelter, transitional and permanent housing, individual and family therapy, supervised visitations and custodial exchanges, abuser intervention, and education in the community and schools about healthy relationships.
