Help Me Not Lose My Care & My Home

Hi, I'm Alex and I have Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. It's kind of a miracle I've lived as long as I have since most people with this die in their teens and early 20s. The fact I'm alive and relatively stable is only because of the care I receive. Without proper care I would probably not survive long.

Now my care and entire life are being threatened because Medicaid, the provider of my disability benefits, has messed something up and now my personal care aide, my best friend, and the primary earner of our house is losing $1000s/per month because she's not getting paid due to Medicaid's errors, which are yet to be resolved and which we have no sign they'll be resolved quickly. She was not paid for the last half of August, received partial pay the first week of September, and is now not getting paid at all for anything after the 10th.

She's been taking care of me since 2015 with no problems. She hasn't changed anything in the way she bills Medicaid, and suddenly right around the time I try to renew benefits this nightmare starts happening. We can't survive much longer this way. We're running out of money. Amanda won't be starting her new job until January. Lauren (best friend/aide) doesn't have any job besides taking care of me and she's now not getting paid.

Friends, whatever you can do to help will never be forgotten. Whatever amount you can give, whatever number of people you can share this with who might be able to help, it will all be appreciated greatly. I got the miracle of living well beyond my initial life expectancy. Now I need the miracle of being able to afford to live.
