Help Me Mark War of 1812 Veteran Graves

Donation protected
I am a senior at Martinsville high school in Indiana and in order to graduate I have to complete a senior project. Being interested in history and having much regard for our veterans, I chose to obtain a VA military grave marker for a soldier of the war of 1812. My soldier, David Gibbens, served on two different occasions during the war and although there is a stone at his gravesite, it has been vandalized and broken. His name is still visible, but there is no mention or marking of any kind to indicate that he is a veteran. Thus, I applied for a government headstone believing Mr. Gibbens was well deserving of recognition.
Unfortunately, I received a rejection letter from the VA. It stated that a military stone could not be provided since there was already a marker at the grave. True, there is a marker, but it is in bad condition and anyone passing by the grave would never know that Mr. Gibbens served his country in time of war.
In order to move forward with my project, I have decided to honor Mr. Gibbens with a bronze War of 1812 Veteran Grave Marker.  The marker, which can hold a flag, will be staked in front of Mr. Gibbens’ current headstone. In addition to marking Mr. Gibbens’ grave, I would like to purchase an additional marker for another War of 1812 Veteran in the same cemetery.  Any funds raised will be used solely for the purchase of grave markers and flags for the headstones.
