Help Me Make a Difference – Running for Sickle Cell
Hi, my name is Andre, and I’m running a half marathon to raise funds for OSCAR Birmingham, a charity doing life-changing work for people living with Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia.
This cause is really personal for me. I have close friends and loved ones who live with Sickle Cell, and I’ve seen how much it impacts not only their daily lives, but also our wider community. For a long time, I didn’t know how I could help. I donate blood regularly, but I always felt like I could be doing more.
A friend who lives with Sickle Cell shared how much OSCAR Birmingham has supported them—especially through their work with young people. The charity runs workshops, spreads awareness, and helps families get the care and information they need. It made me realise that small actions can make a big impact.
So I decided to do my part by running this half marathon—not just to challenge myself physically, but to help raise funds and awareness for a cause that truly matters.
Every donation, big or small, will help OSCAR Birmingham continue their amazing work in the community.
