Help me!! I have two quarters left!

Donation protected
Hi my name is Thiago, I’m a senior at UC Davis, and I’m 2 quarters away from graduation. I’ve been fighting for my education since 2012. After High School I had many unsuccessful attempts to go back to school, mainly because of my financial situation and my undocumented status.

In 2012 I was finally able to start community college, after I was approved for DACA. I have two daughters and a wife who I provide for. However, this has made my education journey extremely hard in every level, but I was determined. I completed 3.5 years of community College, received my associates degree, and was admitted to UC DAVIS in fall 2016. At UC Davis I’m majoring in Political Science-Public Service and a Minor in Sociology. My goal is to work in Law Enforcement and help to build bridges between police and my community.

When I was admitted at UC Davis, It was one of the happiest days of my life, but little did I know the challenges I would face. It started when I found out I didn’t qualify for AB540 because I didn’t complete 3 full years of high School, even though I did earn my diploma that was not sufficient to qualify. I was lost not knowing how would I be able to afford school, but giving up was not an option.

Since I didn’t qualify for AB540, I did not receive any financial aid from the university, or any of its departments. I have tried not to let this stop me, and I started to working long hours, gigs, overtime, asking friends, family, you name it, in addition to going to school full time. My journey here at UC Davis has been an emotional roller coaster, every quarter up until today.  I’ve been taking whatever money I had to pay for school.

My fall quarter 2017 was only paid in January, after the due date, and I was only able to do it with the help of an amazing student group called SPEAK. Since my Fall quarter was paid so late I couldn’t register for Winter quarter, and I was forced to withdraw. I submitted a request for readmission for Spring 2018 and thank God it was approved.

Here I am now, excited for Spring quarter,  but terribly anxious, not knowing if I’m going to have enough money to cover the last 2 quarters of my education. I’m going to remain hopeful that this Go Fund Me plea will help raise enough funds to cover my tuition and fees in order for me to graduate and pursue my career in Law Enforcement. I feel I’ll be able to give back to my community by serving and protecting them.

Thanks a lot!
