As many of you know, on September 1st, 2024, I lost my biggest cheerleader, my strongest support system, my mom. This came unexpectedly and completely crushed me and my family. My mom was the strength of our family and always gave to others. She spent 40+ years in the medical field always putting others before herself. Once retired, she continued to give back by volunteering with our favorite rescue organization, Lucky Pup Rescue. She also volunteered at the local soup kitchen. If you needed it, she would give you the clothes off of her back.
During her last week on earth, she spent her time in hospice at the Gosnell House in Scarbrough, Maine. During this difficult time my family was surrounded by such caring staff and a peaceful environment. We spent a lot of time outside in the patio area surrounded by many names of people who had passed before her. I am thankful that we were able to be at the Gosnell House instead of being in the hospital. Even after my mom passed, this organization has been so wonderful to my family reaching out and sending monthly newsletters on ways they can help support us during this difficult time.
My mom's 80th birthday would be on Valentine's Day. It breaks my heart we will not be able to throw her a big party and see her turn this milestone. For her heavenly birthday, I am hoping to raise enough money to donate to the Gosnell House and buy a brick in her memory. In June, the Gosnell House has a special ceremony in honor of those who have passed by placing the brick down in the beautiful garden area.
While it’s hard knowing she won’t see me turn 40 next month, or see the second part of my life begin as I start over, I do know she will be looking down on me and everyone else and be our guardian angel. Love you mom.
