Grandma Bea Just Wanna Be Badd

A very sweet and wise friend recently advised me, "You love them. You'll do what you have to do."  So here I am, with pride swallowed, asking for the help that my beautiful Beatrix needs to be her best self. 

Beatrix will be 11 years old on May 1, earning her the distinguished petname "Grandma Bea" as she enters her senior years with vigor and a full heart. Unfortunately this means added veterinary cost that her insurance plan will not cover. 

Beatrix is prone to sebaceous cysts that become abscess and, for lack of better terms, explode like painful volcanoes. We have a fairly normal routine of removing the troublesome few during her annual dental treatment before they cause problems, but this year her recently diagnosed heart murmur put a kink in our plans.  She needs a pre-surgery EKG  and bloodwork (~$700) to help determine the cause of her murmur and the best and safest anesthesia option for her abscessed cyst removals (~$800). 

Nathan and I do our absolute best to be prepared for our kids' needs. Beatrix has pet insurance but due to her age and her prior vet bills (specifically, a serious liver inflammation earlier this year), her coverage is maxxed. Add to that some unexpected car expenses (tires for both cars, brakes, rotors), and the Valentine household is completely tapped out just at a time we need it the most. We're basically in a race against the cysts to have removed before explosion and subsequent more serious issues.  I can tell my kiddo is in pain; she's licking her trouble spots and lethargic (yes, more so than usual basset-levels of lethargy). 

If you know me at all, you know I LOVE my #badbassets and there's nothing I won't do to make their lives better. They mean the world to me. I want them to be happy and healthy. 

The only thing we love as much as our fur kids is our community. We'll be so incredibly grateful to anyone who will share this ill-timed burden with us and *pinky swear* to pay it forward tenfold. We believe in giving back and I'll be perfectly honest, it's incredibly difficult to be the person who needs the help.
