Help Me Get My Prescriptions

I’m humbling myself to ask for help with my prescriptions. I need these medications to stay alive. I don’t like asking for help, and so I continued trying to wait till the problem is fixed, but I can’t put it off any longer.
A couple weeks ago, I went to go get my prescriptions filled, and was told by the pharmacy that I was no longer covered. My prescription coverage provider, Medicaid, did an upgrade to their software, and it broke a lot of people’s accounts. The glitch in the system tells my pharmacy to bill Medicare Part D. Medicaid picks up the difference after that. The problem is, I don’t have Medicare for over a year now. The computer added it back in.
Medicaid knows this and the DHS office knows this, but they say they are backlogged and can’t fix the problem just yet. After calling every office I can think of for 2 weeks, all the help lines, my state representative, asked my doctors for samples, and even tried the pharmaceutical companies for help, I still can’t get any of my life preserving medications. You see, I’m technically covered. I have the insurance (albeit broken), and the pharmaceutical companies can only help if you’re not covered all, or they can help reduce or eliminate your co-pay.
It is imperative that I take these medications to prevent my immune system from attacking my liver, and subsequently going into liver failure. My blood thinner is expensive too. It’s the only one that works for me. Last time I went off of them, I got a pulmonary embolism within 2 weeks.
I’m a mother of a little boy. I need to be well for him. He depends on me.
I need help getting a month’s worth of medications so that I don’t get sick or die. I’ve already missed a few days of my blood thinner, and I’ll be out of my immuno-suppressants tomorrow.
I promise I will pay this forward. I currently donate to one or two causes every month, even if it’s not very much. I will continue to do this well beyond paying back this debt of gratitude. I don’t want to take money from anyone during these tough times. My mother is helping with rent and utilities so that I could use what income my son and I have to get some of the medications I need instead, but they are so very expensive, I could only get a few days worth.
With discount coupons, my blood thinner is $420. My immuno-suppressants are $1749 and $364. I have a couple others that aren’t as pricy, along with the Calcium and Vitamin D I have to take daily to help with the side-effects of the meds, but together, they are several hundred as well.
I don’t expect this to take longer than a month, but if it looks like it’s going that way, I may have to purchase private insurance. I will figure out a way to make it work.
