Donation protected

It is with a broken heart and profound sadness that I have to let everyone know that my beloved husband Darren lost his courageous fight and passed away at 12am this morning, Even with his passing he remains the amazing caring man he always was by donating his organs to help others.
. Sadly the medical flight we planned is now a repatriation flight so that his children , grandchildren ,brothers ,sister and family can say their goodbyes .

your kind donations are still desperately needed as I need find the funds to repatriate Darren.

thank you from the bottom of my heart to all that have helped, either by donating, sharing his fundraiser and sending me messages of support, this has meant so much to me.

Hello, this is Darren my amazing husband, presently we live in Cyprus where a few weeks ago he was a healthy 48 year old man, always smiling, always happy and loved by so many people. He recently ran a 5k and a 10k race to raise money for charity and was planning on running a marathon in March, but sadly on the 16th January (just a few weeks after his 48th birthday) he suffered 2 massive strokes and over the following 3 days he began to deteriorate rapidly. On the 19th January he was transferred to a different hospital an hour away from our home to have a craniectomy due to the extensive swelling on his brain. On 21st January he was again transferred to another hospital to see a specialist neurologist . Since then he suffered a punctured lung after needing a ventilator fitting, then he fell ill with pneumonia, sepsis and necrosis in his head wound, The doctors didn’t think he would make it, everyday they prepared me for the worst, but he has shocked the doctors and everyone else by showing massive courage and fight, his infections are clearing up and his punctured lung is healed and he is showing signs of movement. This has given myself and our families so much hope and we are desperate for help to get him flown back to the UK, he will need to travel by air ambulance for ongoing treatment and support. He will need full time care and rehabilitation which we cannot access here and the doctors advise he will recover much better with the support of his family, I alone can’t provide the care he will need, i soon have to give up our home as it is rented and is not suitable for what Darren’s needs will be.  I had to give up my job so that I can travel over an hour daily from Limassol to Nicosia to be with him which along with having to send our two rescue dogs back home for my family to care for has seriously depleted our savings. I have tried the help of our hometown local news papers, social media and radio with some success, but there is still a long way to go before we meet our target.

To get Darren back to England we need a Private air ambulance with ITU medical team to safety escort him so he can be admitted to our local hospital for his ongoing care. I would be relieved and eternally grateful for any donations to help get us through this desperate time .Please join his group to follow his progress
