help me get back cycling with my son

hi everyone, my name is mark, im 48 and a stroke survivor.before i was hit with a sudden stroke on 2 September this year, i led quite an active lifestyle, mountain biking, hiking and paddle boarding with my 8yr old son, jamie, plenty of adventures and fun.i'm hoping to raise money towards the purchase of a recumbent tricycle! Aat10.30pm on the 2nd September as i was going to bed, i lost all feeling in my left side and toppled out of bed. my quick thinking wife called an ambulance immediately and basically saved my life as i was rushed into hospital in time to be thrombolysed and have a mechanical thrombectomy, where they've removed what my consultant described as a significant clot from my brain, i was diagnosed as having suffered a right total anterior circulation infarction with haemorragic transformation in my right hca territory,

then followed the hardest 4 weeks of my life, in leighton hospital, as they weren't allowing visitors due to covid, so i didn't see my wife or son for a month, i was luck enough to be discharged in early october on what they call ESD (early supported discharge), with significant left side weakness, my left arm has not recovered although i can now walk (short distances) with a stick. over the weekend i asked jamie what he would most like to get me doing again and he said "bikey bikey" his pet name for our cycle trips,

no balance and a redundant left arm means there is no chance of me getting on a bike anytime soon,

so i started investigating recumbent tricycles such as ice trikes, my physio has agreed theyd'd be an excellent way of rebuilding the muscle wastage in my legs and help with my recovery. and improve my sense of independence i'm hoping to raise 33% of the cost of the trike (including extras such as a seat raiser to help me get in and out ok , any surplus funds will be donated to Different Strokes a charity focussing on helping stroke survivors who are working age! and have been really supportive so far! thank you for reading so far and for considering helping us! i want my son to enjoy his childhood and have some great memories of our time together!
