I’m excited to share that this September I’ll be starting a Master of Science by research in Environmental Science at the University of Waikato in Aotearoa New Zealand!
Thanks to my incredible supervisor, about half of the required funding is already secured. I’ll be applying for Canadian student loans to help cover the rest, and I’m also actively looking for scholarships, bursaries, or other funding opportunities available to Canadian students studying abroad.
However, there's a catch: New Zealand’s international student visa system requires the full tuition amount to be paid upfront, before I can even enter the country. That means I need to come up with roughly $50,000 NZD (~$41,000 CAD / $30,000 USD) in advance.
This degree is an incredible opportunity and a huge step toward the kind of work I want to do: supporting climate resilience and greener, healthier urban futures. Plus, I'm going to get to keep climbing trees without killing them!
If you're able to contribute, share this page, or point me toward resources, I would be deeply grateful.
Thank you so much for your support and kindness!
Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou,
Laura
