<div>From what was the hardest year of our lives in 2021 after losing my husband, a devoted father to his girls, a loving son, a brother and a friend to many, fast forward nearly 5 years later, on the 2nd of November 2025 I woke up with a heavy left leg. I had no symptoms before this day, but within hours I became partially paralysed down my left arm and left leg. After three A&amp;E visits, and being initially treated for what they thought was a pinched nerve, a CT scan finally revealed a tumour on the right side of my brain. The tumour caused me to completely lose my mobility on my left side, leaving me unable to use my left arm and unable to walk. I spent over a week in Prince Charles Hospital, where the care was exceptional. The doctors explained their concern, that it could be an aggressive brain cancer.

<div>On the 19th of November at the University Hospital of Wales, surgeons removed around 90% of the tumour. It was sat on my motor strip and if fully removed it may have left me permanently paralysed. Two weeks later the biopsy confirmed my diagnosis: Grade 4 Glioblastoma — a terminal, incurable cancer with an average prognosis of 12–18 months. I chose not to be told timeframes, but I know the reality of this disease. Thankfully since surgery, the pressure from the tumour on my motor strip has been relieved and with pure determination I have rebuilt my strength and learned to walk again.

<div>On the 22nd of December, I began six weeks of radiotherapy and chemotherapy, completing treatment on the 5th of February 2026— almost five years to the day since losing Neil.

<div>On the 10th of March, I will hopefully be starting a clinical trial with Optune, chemotherapy and immunotherapy but unfortunately it’s a risk I receive a placebo meaning that I may receive an inactive substance. I will continue to pursue every option the NHS can offer to prolong my life for my girls. Having already lost their father, I cannot allow them to face losing their mother too. That is why I need to be proactive and prepare for the possibility that NHS treatments may eventually run out.

<div>There are specialist treatments available abroad — including one in Germany — but these come at a significant cost, covering travel, accommodation, medical tests, and the treatment itself. Due to the high costs of these treatments, I have had to swallow my pride and reach out for help.

<div>We are now fundraising to create a safety net. This type of cancer is incurable and I will always need some form treatment until there are no options left. I want to explore every option available to prolong my life and these funds will allow me to access clinical trials or therapies not available on the NHS. By raising money now, we hope to remove financial pressure at a time when decisions may need to be made quickly, ensuring I have every possible option available when I need it most.
